Modi emphasized that the annulment of Article 370 on August 5, 2019, aimed to redress anti-Kashmiri sentiments, which had favored a select few families like the Abdullahs and Muftis, perpetuating discrimination. The discourse extended to the alleged J&K bank scam implicating notable figures like former CM Omar Abdullah and ex-finance minister Haseeb Drabu. Modi highlighted the pervasive nepotism and corruption that marred the bank, necessitating government intervention to rectify its financial health.

Modi’s address pivoted towards tourism, showcasing the government’s concerted efforts to promote J&K as a prime tourist destination. He lauded the surge in tourist footfall, particularly at key attractions like Kashmir, Amarnath, and Vaishno Devi, underscoring the region’s potential as India’s winter sports hub. Modi introduced the ‘Wed in India’ initiative, urging affluent families to celebrate weddings domestically, particularly in Kashmir, contributing to the region’s economic growth.
